I have been making visual art for most of my life and am largely self-taught in this discipline. Where theatre and film are intensely social and collaborative activities, my visual art practice provides a balance in being solitary and meditative. In visual art as in all my artistic endeavors, I’m inspired by found scraps, exploring relationships, and recombining materials, to create new resonances and new ways of seeing.

I think of the pieces as visual poems, meditations on the mysteries beneath the surface of the commonplace. Influences and subjects include metaphysics, language and signs, childhood, cultural detritus, the cosmos, science, received and subverted knowledge, the body, memory, flight, desire…
